Two purpose-built apartments on the campus provide accommodation for visiting artists, including those involved in the Forum program.
Wood Workshop Available to all students, the facilities include standard equipment for almost any project involving wood and wood-based materials. It is supervised by an experienced technician.
Metal Workshop A shared facility used by students from all disciplines. There is a large range of equipment including MIG welders, TIG welders, Plasma cutters, a profile cutting machine using plasma oxyacetylene or router trimmer for plastics, a sheet metal guillotine and folders, etc. The workshop is staffed by an experienced technician and is strictly supervised |
Carington Smith Library The library has an extensive collection of books, audio and visual tapes as well as access to CD-ROM, Internet and other electronic data bases. Online access to this library is also avaliable.
Computing Supervised facilities are available in the studio and others, for independent student use, are elsewhere in the School e.g. staff and postgraduate research areas.
Dechaineux Lecture Theatre This is the venue for a regular series of lectures offered in the Forum program which, for over twenty years, has brought guest lecturers from interstate and overseas. Entrepot The Tasmanian University Union Inc. is involved with various commercial activities, including an on-site shop at the School for the Arts, Hunter Street. Entrepot carries specialist art supplies and a range of books It includes a student gallery where constantly changing student exhibitions from all disciplines can be seen throughout the year. Open 8:30 am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
