"Opening up the world of things with sculpture"

I am investigating the ontological significance of the artwork as thing. When we encounter things in the world we ascribe meanings and values to them and we also assume we know what they are, however artworks have the special property of being things that we are unsure about. Artworks can serve to show us how we misunderstand the true nature of most things we encounter by trusting our knowledge.
