My research project aims to seek contemporary visual
imagery that interrogates the notion of evil as a necessary part of
human nature and the world in which we live. Through an examination
of the historical use of animal attributes in personifications of
evil I hope to better understand the rationale behind the development
of such iconography in order to determine whether the use of animal
imagery is still the most appropriate way of representing evil.
