Second and Third Year Units FSZ250/350 Art, Natural Environment and History An experiential program which looks at our relationship with the landscape of Tasmania in particular and our relationship with environmental issues in general. The unit is about encounters. The student encounters new places and, in turn, studies the encounters of Europeans with the landscape and aboriginal culture. The unit is offered as a summer school which includes three field trips of four days each, and associated lectures and tutorials. FSZ251/351 Art, Natural Environment and Wilderness A program of field trips and lectures surveying ideas about art and nature with a focus on the landscape of Western Tasmania. Through this experiential program students look at definitions and links between the concepts of art and nature. The unit has two ambitions in terms of student response. The first is a research project that is expressed through an interpretation format and the second in a more expressive piece developed through the student's major study.
